Personalised treatments, one plan built around you

Every session starts with a proper consultation — what is going on, what you have already tried, and what you want to get back to doing. The treatment is chosen from there, and reviewed at every visit.

An acupuncturist placing a fine needle in a patient's upper back, three needles already in place, the patient lying face down under a white towel

Acupuncture 针灸

The core treatment. Very fine needles are placed at selected points and left in place while you rest, usually for around twenty minutes. Most people describe a brief prick, then pressure, warmth or heaviness around the point.

  • Consultation first — symptoms, history, medications, and your goal
  • Sterile, single-use needles, disposed of after every treatment
  • The plan is explained before anything begins, and reassessed each visit
  • Under ACC, up to 12 treatments within 12 weeks can be provided without needing prior approval from ACC, counted from your first acupuncture session and within 52 weeks of your accident. If you need more, further treatment can be requested from ACC.

Cupping 拔罐

Warmed glass cups are placed on the skin to create suction, then moved or left in place for a few minutes. It is often paired with acupuncture in the same session, or booked on its own. Temporary circular marks are common after cupping and usually fade over several days.

  • Commonly used over the back, shoulders and larger muscle groups
  • Can be combined with an acupuncture session or booked alone
  • Tell Cloris if you bruise easily or take blood thinners, so it can be adapted

Herbal medicine & moxibustion 中药 · 艾灸

Moxibustion warms a point using dried mugwort — the same plant in the clinic's mark — held above the skin or on the needle. Chinese herbal formulas are prepared individually and added when Cloris judges them clinically appropriate, never by default.

  • Moxibustion can be funded under ACC once your claim has been accepted — contact Cloris before booking if you do not have a claim yet
  • Herbs and supplements are not ACC-funded and are paid for separately
  • Tell her everything you already take, so the formula accounts for it

What we help with

What people commonly come in for

These are the reasons people most often book. If yours is not listed, message Cloris and describe it — she will tell you honestly whether she thinks she can help.

A person seated on the edge of a treatment couch in loose clothing

Lower-back pain & sciatica

The consultation covers how it started, what makes it worse, and how it affects sitting, sleeping and work. Cupping over the surrounding muscle may be added alongside acupuncture when Cloris judges it appropriate.

A running shoe and folded towels on a wooden bench in a treatment room

Sports injuries & strains

Often an ACC case. If the injury came from an accident and your claim has been accepted, the co-payment is $10 per session. If you don’t have a claim yet, contact Cloris before booking. She will ask what you are training for, and factor it into the plan.

The neck and shoulder line of a person seated in a chair, seen from behind

Neck & shoulder pain

Frequently desk- and posture-related, and frequently long-standing by the time people come in. The session looks at the neck, shoulder and upper back together rather than only the spot that hurts.

An empty treatment couch with folded linen beside a window at dusk

Sleep & stress

Something people often raise alongside the pain they booked for. Sessions are quiet and unhurried, and the needles stay in while you rest. Cloris will also ask about routine, caffeine and screens, because they belong in the same conversation.

Women's health

An area Cloris has worked in throughout her ten years, in both China and New Zealand. Consultations are available in English and 中文, and this is the area where herbal formulas are most often considered alongside treatment.

A forearm and elbow resting on a folded towel on a treatment couch

Tennis & golfer's elbow

Usually an overuse pattern from work or sport rather than a single moment. If it followed an accident and ACC has accepted a claim for that injury, the co-payment is $10 per session.
